Winter Storm Impact on Supply Disruption and Resin Pricing Increases

Pricing & Supply Announcement on Resins and Shapes

Dear Valued Customer,

The recent extreme cold weather event in Texas has negatively impacted the plastic resin plants located in the area.  These resin plants are dealing with repair issues, unplanned downtime, and limited staff due to COVID-19. 

The disruptions are causing shortages with some plastic resins.  Our manufacturers that process the resins into sheet, rod, tube and other shapes are dealing with limited supply of these resins which is driving prices higher.

Due to these unfortunate circumstances, pricing and availability for sheet, rod, tube, and other stocked shapes will impact the following materials:

• ABS - Acrylonitrile Butadiene Styrene

• PC - Polycarbonate

• PE - Polyethylene

• PEI – Polyetherimide - Ultem

• Polyamide – PA Type 6/6 - Nylon

• POM - Polyoxymethylene Acetal - Copolymer – Delrin Acetal

• POM - Polyoxymethylene Acetal - Homopolymer – Delrin Acetal

• PP – Polypropylene - Copolymer

• PP - Polypropylene - Homopolymer  

• PVC – Polyvinyl Chloride

This is a fluid situation, as we continue to receive new notices daily from our manufacturers on additional price increases and limited supply of the materials listed above, additional products may be impacted. 

Due to the uncertainty, we cannot give an exact pricing percentage increase on stock shapes.  Quotes on these materials from our current inventory are valid for 5 days only, there is potential for those items to be sold before an order is placed and subject to higher prices and long lead-times.
