PEEK Polyetheretherketone Plastic Product Family

About PEEK Polyetheretherketone

PEEK is an abbreviation for PolyEtherEtherKetone, a high performance engineering thermoplastic. PEEK grades offer chemical and water resistance similar to PPS (PolyPhenylene Sulfide), but can operate at higher temperatures. Available in glass, carbon, bearing grade and other filled grades in sheet, rod, tube, film and precision machined or molded parts.

PEEK shapes and parts are available for a wide range of resins and processes that include extrusion, injection molding, compression molding, spin casting and calendaring.  Depending on your application requirements, desired properties, part size and volume we can help match the right PEEK grade and process to optimize your part performance and material yields to eliminate excessive cost.

PEEK Polyetheretherketone Key Properties

PEEK can be used continuously to 480°F (250°C) and in hot water or steam without permanent loss in physical properties. For hostile environments, PEEK is a high strength alternative to fluoropolymers. PEEK carries a V-0 flammability rating and exhibits very low smoke and toxic gas emission when exposed to flame. And unfilled PEEK is approved by the FDA for food contact applications (since 1998).

  • High Temperature Performance (480F Continuous Use)
  •  Mechanical Strength
  • Dimensional Stability
  • Excellent Chemical Resistance
  •  Low Smoke & Toxic Gas Emission
  • Carbon Filled & Bearing Grades offer Excellent Wear Properties

  • VESTAKEEP® PEEK*
  • MIL-P-46183 Type I**
  • Unfilled virgin PEEK offers a continuous use temp 480°F (250°C) and high strength, low moisture absorption, it is electrically insulative, with a V-0 flammability rating and exhibits very low smoke and toxic gas emission when exposed to flame. Unfilled PEEK is FDA compliant.  PEEK (Unfilled) general purpose grade is unreinforced and offers the highest elongation and toughness of all PEEK grades.
  • Victrex™  PEEK 450 CA30™*
  • KetaSpire® PEEK  KT 820 CF30*
  • VESTAKEEP® PEEK 4000 CF30*
    • MIL-P-46183 Type III Class 2**
    • 30% Carbon Filled PEEK contains carbon fibers which enhance the compressive strength and stiffness of PEEK, and dramatically lowers its expansion rate. It offers designers optimum wear resistance and load carrying capability in a PEEK-based product. This grade provides 3½ times higher thermal conductivity than unreinforced PEEK -- dissipating heat from the bearing surface faster.
    • Victrex™  PEEK 450GL30*
    • KetaSpire® KT 820 GF30*
    • VESTAKEEP® 4000 GF30*
    • MIL-P-46183 Type II Class 3**
    • 30% Glass Filled PEEK contains glass fibers which significantly reduces the expansion rate and increases the flexural modulus of PEEK. This grade is ideal for structural applications that require improved strength, stiffness, or stability, especially at temperatures above 300°F (150°C).
    • Victrex™  450 FC30™*
    • KetaSpire® KT-880 FW30*
    • VESTAKEEP® 4000 FC30*
    • N/A
    • Bearing Grade PEEK contains carbon fiber reinforced with graphite and PTFE lubricants, offering the lowest coefficient of friction and the best machinability for all PEEK grades. Bearing grade PEEK has an excellent combination of low friction, low wear, high limiting PV, low mating part wear, and easy machining

*Boedeker Plastics, Inc. stocks & supplies plastic sheet, rod, tube, film and custom profiles and machine parts from PEEK shapes that are produced from plastic resin. In many cases the manufacturer of the shape has their own product trade name. If your specification calls for a specific resin grade or manufacturer trade name, we can supply a shape made from that resin to meet your specification or suggest an equal. If you require a specific resin or brand it must be specified at the time of order.

**Not all resins or shape trade names listed above meet the listed MIL Spec, if you require certification to a MIL Spec it must be requested at the time of order.
